About Laura Berne

By the time she was ten years old, Laura was riding and competing in her native Southern California. Horses would forever be in her life, and over the years she has sought to learn several disciplines, including Dressage, Eventing and Western.

By 1978, Laura's true passion had become dressage. To improve her skills to the fullest, in 1980 Laura enrolled in the prestigious Talland School of Equitation in Cirencester, England, where she earned her BHSAI Certification with Molly Sivewright.

Thereafter, Laura was located outside of Vienna, where she trained with Max Huck while he was a member of the Austrian Eventing Team. As a student of Herr Huck, she traveled throughout Europe attending numerous Eventing competitions.

Laura has taken instruction with Button Baker, Major Hector Carmona and Bruno Greber of Ashanti Farm. Laura has attended clinics with Conrad Schumacher and Hilda Gurney.

In 2005, Laura was training and competing on Sridhar, a KWPN stallion owned by Levremont Farm. She began Sridhar’s dressage training in September 2004, and they established an outstanding record together. Laura and Sridhar regularly earned scores in the seventies and earned the following awards:

  • Finished in the Top 5% USDF Horse of the Year 2005 Open Training Level
  • VADA State Championship Senior Training Level Recognized Show median score of 75.49%
  • Qualifying score of 77.692% for 2005 BLM Championships
  • Training Level High Average Award at the Raleigh CDI/Capital Dressage Classic 2005
  • Friday High Score at Lexington Dressage 2005
  • High Score of the Day at Morven Park Spring Fling 2005

At present, Laura is preparing a young Hanoverian gelding, owned by Joy and Michael Blair, for the 2010 competition year. And, Laura is continuing her education via USDF and various private clinics.
